My story

Update!!! Talk about an amazing recovery!!! Our Eddie is doing so well, we have gotten to cut back on his meds. He is happy and doing well on walks. He is ready for his forever home!!!!

Original Post:

Eddie is absolutely the sweetest boy who has had the absolute crappiest life!!!! This poor, sweet, completely emaciated, high heartworm positive boy was found in a manhole drain. Did he fall in or did someone throw him there? Guess only Eddie will know. It took the city 3 DAYS to get him out. Whereupon they took him to BARC, the high-kill city of Houston pound, gave him three days to find a home and BAM landed on the euthanasia list!!!

We just could not let that be this boy’s whole life!!!

We got Eddie to safety but knew we had to do more so we went to Bay Area Veterinary Specialist and saw the cardiologist. He has started on heart meds and slow kill heartworm treatment.  We are hopeful that we can give this boy the time he deserves to have a fabulous life full of love!

Eddie is probably around 8 years old and is in an amazing foster home with 3 other dogs. He is not a fan of cats.

If you are interested in loving and spoiling this boy for the rest of his life, just fill out our adoption application and we will be in touch.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

SHR will require an application and home visit for the adoption of any of our animals. The customary adoption fee is $150 for dogs $85 for cats.

Go meet their pets

Scout's Honor Rescue does not currently have its own facility to keep the animals in its adoption program. All animals in our program are fostered by individuals who keep the dog or cat at their residence until it is adopted. Consider opening your home to a dog or cat in need. You become the caregiver to a precious animal – their future is in your hands! It is incredibly rewarding to know that you have given that animal the two most precious gifts- Life and Love. For many of them, this is the first kind hand they have known.
