From Owen

Would you like an extremely cuddly, human-loving, beautiful fur baby? Then, here I am! The lovely people who take care of me say I am handsome, very smart, and eager to please my humans. Do you like to play, because I sure do!  Although I really love to be with my humans, I also like some other large dogs, too.  I had a best friend for a while who was such a wonderful girlfriend. I still miss her. If you have another large dog in your house, I would love to meet him/her to see if we could become new besties!  Honestly, I have waited so long for my very own forever home, I am beginning to worry it will never happen. I just so much want someone to give me a chance to love them and show what a fabulous boy I am.

So....pretty please won't you come and meet me, maybe take me out for Dog For a won't be sorry!!!

More information on Owen:

Owen absolutely adores his humans. He is a super sweet and affectionate dog who loves to cuddle and thinks he is a lap dog. He is extremely playful and has lots of energy, but he also likes to curl up and relax with you.  He is a very intelligent and curious boy who is strong-willed but is eager to please his person.

Sweet Owen would do best in a home with older children due to his size and strength. As he is physically strong and has a strong prey drive, he needs an owner who is equally physically strong to walk him with a durable. sturdy harness.    Owen’s perfect home comes with a tall, fenced backyard, with adults/older children who are physically able/active to exercise/play and humans who will love on him.    In return, he will happily shower and smother your family with his devotion and love.

Owen is good with most bigger dogs, has formed strong bonds with some large dogs and even found a best doggie friend along the way.  He LOVES to chase lizards and frogs in the yard.   Please don't be deterred from considering our sweet and affectionate Owen because he cannot be in a home with small dogs, cats, rabbits, etc. due to his play/prey drive.  Just like many large dogs, Owen does not know his own strength and fatally injured a small dog.   Please know that this is not uncommon behavior, as larger dogs do not always interact gently with small animals.    All in all, Owen offers such a loving, outgoing, adoring personality and would be an amazing, devoted addition to a lucky family.

More about this rescue

We are a private, non-profit rescue located in Sanford, Florida, dedicated to the rescue cats and dogs. Many of them come to us with medical needs. They are doctored to the best of our ability and resources.

Our most urgent goal is to rescue animals that are abandoned or in distress, update their vaccines, and find good new homes for them. But we attempt to be more proactive than that. It is our heartfelt desire to prevent any animal from the need to be "rescued." With that vision in mind, we take a three-prong approach through the education of pet owners and the general public about:
- proper care of animals, including correct diet of good quality food, fresh clean water, daily exercise, and lots of love
- spaying and neutering companion animals (dogs and cats) in order to prevent euthanasia and over-population
- low-cost spay/neuter clinics and wellness centers in their local community
