My story

Meet Eugene aka Gene, Genie, Geno. He is a 10 year old sweet boy who is fixed and declawed. We found him when he was a few weeks old in the  woods of our old apartment building. While Gene is a sweet cat who loves  to be petted and cuddled, he does have some health issues. When he was a  kitten he had an upper respiratory infection (herpes) that he battled  for a few years. As he grew he became over weight then obese leading to  diabetes. He is on a prescription diabetic diet and used to have insulin  injections. As we managed his weight his diabetes improved and he is no  longer insulin dependent. He is still on the diabetic diet and his  glucose (sugars) will always need to be monitored. Along with the  diabetes, Gene battles with allergies and itching. He sometime itches  himself so badly that he causes open sores. We have taken him to many  vets and even a veterinary dermatologist but we are unsure as to what he  is allergic to. He likely has both an environmental allergy and di etary allergy. We give him Atopica when he is having a particularly bad  allergy and itching flare up and it helps. Gene does have issues when he  gets extremely stressed, such as urinating on objects and over grooming.  Gene is an overall very happy cat and would flourish in a home where he  was the only cat. He would likely do well with one other older cat or  older dog. Gene is a lovable cat and would be a great companion for the  right family. Contact Samantha  swalters886@gmail.com

More about this rescue

Purrfect Friends Cat Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit group working to end the plight and suffering of unwanted cats and kittens in the greater Cincinnati area. We do this by educating the general public about the importance of spaying or neutering their pets to lessen the drastic over-population of cats; we provide foster homes to cats and kittens waiting for adoption, and provide information and guidance to people working to help the feral cat population through TNR (trap, neuter and release) efforts.

Meet the cats every Saturday at our adoption events (details listed below), and you can see the cats on Petfinders and 1800save-a-pet in the hopes of finding good homes for them.
