Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Chris, a 5 year old gentle and loving cat with a heart of gold. This shy yet sensitive feline is looking for a patient and understanding adopter who can help him blossom into the playful and tranquil companion he longs to be.

Chris may be a bit timid at first, but his gentle nature shines through in every interaction. He craves love and affection and responds with tender gratitude to kind gestures and gentle words. With a little time and patience, Chris is sure to become a devoted and loving member of your family.

Despite his initial shyness, Chris has a playful side that emerges in moments of comfort and security. He enjoys chasing after toys and engaging in gentle play, showcasing his joyful spirit and playful nature.

One of Chris's most endearing qualities is his tranquil presence. He brings a sense of calm and peace to any environment, making him an ideal companion for those seeking a serene and harmonious home.

Additional adoption info

1) Adoptions are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. The first step is to email us at AHcatadoption@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name, age, address, and phone number. We will respond as soon as possible to answer your questions and schedule an appointment to visit our shelter. If you have already submitted an inquiry through Adopt-a-Pet or Petfinder about a particular cat, there is no need to send a separate email.
2) During your appointment, you will complete a questionnaire and work with an adoption coordinator to find the cat that is right for you. This process may involve meeting with numerous cats, or even making more than one visit to Animal House. You and your new cat will live together for a lifetime, so this step is important.
3) Before adoption, we ensure that your cat has been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.

More about this shelter

Animal House Cat Rescue and Adoption Center is a private, non-profit, “no-kill” organization dedicated to providing the homeless, abandoned cats and kittens of St. Louis with a better life. We are committed to maintaining an adoption center that provides a safe, healthy and enriching environment, and our goal is a solid and lasting adoption for every cat and kitten in our care.

Animal House opened in 2010 when the City of St. Louis closed its municipal shelter and ended a number of services for stray animals. Not only did the 75 cats residing in their shelter need a place to go, the St. Louis community needed services for abandoned, homeless cats. Animal House was born out of that need. Today we house 200-250 cats and kittens at any given time.

The cats and kittens at Animal House are rescued from the streets of our community and often come from challenging circumstances that include neglect, abandonment, or injury. We have created a safe place where cats in need find shelter, medical and nutritional support, individualized socialization and interaction, enrichment, lots of love, and the opportunity to connect with a loving, lifelong family. We impose no time limit on this process, giving each cat or kitten the time they need. We emphasize matchmaking throughout our adoption process to ensure the best possible match.
