My story

Newman wandered into a trap at a southern suburb’s business. The trap was meant for a raccoon. I guess it was the raccoon’s lucky day! Somebody that volunteers with our organization works there and gave us a call. We brought him to one of our locations and had planned on getting him fixed. Well, his ear was tipped, so we knew he was previously fixed. This poor guy had been through the ringer. He was really dirty and pretty skinny. With some love, good eats and a lot of brushing he cleaned up to be a dapper young guy!

Newman did test positive for FIV. That’s OK though! He can live a long, healthy life just like a negative cat. Also FIV positive cats can live harmoniously with negative cats. As long as they are friendly with each other there’s not a chance of passing the virus on. FIV can only be passed through deep bite wounds. See attached flyer for more information.

More about this rescue

The Euclid Beach Cat Project is a 501(c)(3), non profit rescue group. We take in, socialize, vet and adopt out cats and kittens, as well as trap-neuter-return (TNR) and manage feral colonies. There are so many homeless, abandoned and vulnerable cats and kittens needing homes, medical care and to be spayed/neutered. We try to help as many cats find a home as we can. If they are feral, we practice TNR and make sure either a caregiver or someone with this rescue continues to provide for them.
