☆ Location: San Diego
☆ Prerequisite: Children in the home must be 6 years or older, a home where Phoebe will be a part of the family and will have an engaging and enriching lifestyle
☆ About Phoebe:
• Phoebe is a great! She is easy to live with. Has good manners, doesn’t damage anything around the house, doesn’t jump on people, doesn’t steal food, relaxes nicely in her crate, walks well on the leash, and has a good recall. She loves meeting new people.
• Phoebe knows basic obedience and quite a few tricks (come, stay, sit, down, roll over, paw, nose, touch, place, crate, get your leash, and many more). She’s also done some agility. She’s awesome at ball work and loves searching for her toys on command. She’s a really good swimmer and will retrieve her ball no matter how far I throw it. She also takes her treats very gently.
• Despite being a Doberman, Phoebe is not a great protection dog. She loves every person she meets.
• She needs to have slow introductions to new dogs. She really does not like strange dogs running up to her especially when she’s on the leash or in enclosed space. Once she is carefully introduced to new dogs, she becomes a very happy, submissive playmate. She’s never hurt a dog, but will bark in a mean way if they charge at her.
• Even though Phoebe has been great with every person she’s met (especially children) she has an unusual fear of our 18-month old son. I am guessing this might be related to how loud and intense our little boy is. He’s also very interested in getting into her space and she is not taking it well. We’ve been trying to make it work ever since he started crawling (a year ago) and it’s not getting better. This is why we had to make this tough decision.
