My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

German Husky!? What is that about?

Tiara is such a sweet girl! We suspect that her parents come from the Siberian Husky and German Shepard line and she is a mix often called a German Husky, a Shepsky or a Gerberian Shepsky.  What a silly name that last one.   She is between 1 and 2 years old, has the beautiful white teeth of a young dog and likes to explore. She is interested in adults, children, and other dogs.  Cats are like squirrels – to be chased!

She is very bright and learns well; she pays keen attention to your whistle and commands.  She has the instincts of her two working breed heritage for following direction and to learning. She is getting better at walking on the leash daily, and if given feedback will heal. She does not react to other dogs or people; you stay calm, she stays calm.  She can bark at strangers who invade your space as a guard response but relaxes once you show the person is not a threat.

She is a great travel companion, sleeping and relaxing calmly in her seat the whole time, without any anxiety, even when you need to leave her alone in the car. She won’t even try to bolt out of the car if you leave the door open! She is slender at 39 pounds. She is building back that gorgeous Shepsky athletic body; really a nice blend of the two dog body types (German Shepherd and Siberian Husky). Check out those ears!  Very alert.

She is a loving dog – wants to be with you and by you and, if you let her, on you.  She wants to be a lap dog and a play buddy. She stays off the couch and beds if directed, but she is always testing – “How about now – bed snuggle now ok?” she seems to say with her look when she leaps up next to you!

Her play is with a gentle and soft mouthing,  paw batting, and rolling over for belly rubs – she shows her enjoyment by going limp under a rubbing hand.

She has a great shepherd bark and quiet husky awoo-awoo on rare occasions.  She plays actively but nicely with other dogs.  She runs like the wind.  She does hear you whistle to return and if you have both a soft (inside) and loud (outside) whistle she will be in reach to recall from near and far.  Tiara will make a great pet in a home where she gets attention and exercise.  Fun and loving, she is a wonderful creature!
