This one year old petite border collie mix is looking for a special person to continue her training and socialization. She is very fearful and distrustful of people until she bonds, but once she trusts is a fun high energy walking, hiking and jogging companion with her chosen buddy. She's fearful and avoids other dogs and is looking for a calmer adult home with just one person she can bond to and protect. She loves to catch frisbees and play fetch and is a dog who needs a "job" to keep her mind busy and give her an appropriate outlet for her energy... no couch potatos for this dog! Eliza is about 35lbs full grown and has the intelligence and energy of a border collie, with a bit more of the independent attitude of a shiba or spitz type breed. Please submit an application for an appointment to meet her Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Age: 2yrs 9mths 2wks

More about this shelter
Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.
To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
