Catrina is such a sweet girl but comes with a with sad past. Adopted out as a puppy from us Catrina was then dumped in a shelter in bad shape, not spayed and scared. We have worked hard to get her in better shape and also recently had her spayed.

Catrina is not a mellow dog. She is very high energy and would benefit from a home that is extremely active & with a fenced in back yard. She is not a couch potato, rather she wants to play with toys or other dogs (another confident dog would be wonderful asset for her) but will settle in her crate with toys and treats. She will need a calm patient owner that is willing to work with her, teach her manners and understand that she has some feelings of abandonment & anxiety. That being said, she is a very sweet and loving dog when she is comfortable with you. Some people do scare her, so its recommended that she’s in a home with children over 12yrs. Little humans have a tendency to be loud and scary to a dog that is trying to overcome previous abuse. Plus her exuberant energy would be a bit overwhelming to little kids.

Because of some previous trauma to her throat, Catrina cannot be restrained using her collar. Her current foster has started using a gentle leader with her and that is going well. She currently knows how to sit and is working on “look at me” while walking to keep her focused. She is very treat motivated and would really benefit with some formal obedience training.

Catrina will make that special someone an amazing addition to their life. She is loyal, smart and beautiful, she just needs the right person to take a chance with her and give her the opportunity to show that she really is worth it. The rewards, lots of puppy kisses and a set of beautiful brown eyes that will love you unconditionally.
