My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This adorable little guy is Dougy. Dougy is a yorkie mix who is 10 years old. He is 7 pounds. Dougie is being fostered in Miami Beach, FL.
Due to Covid-19 dogs in Florida must be adopted in Florida.

UPDATED BIO 09/24/2020: Dougy was sadly surrendered by his owners when they knew they could no longer give him the care he needed. He has been in his foster home for 1-1/2 weeks now and has seen the vet for his well-dog check.

This little fella has the sweetest disposition and gets along with all people and other dogs. He very rarely barks, loves to eat and prefers soft food due to extractions of several teeth over the years. Dougy has learned to do his business on his pee-pee-pads most of the time - but still marks in other areas of the house once in a while. His foster mom is working with re-training him and we are hoping to completely curb this undesired behavior. Dougy loves to go for leash walks, adores car rides and also loves being pushed in his pet stroller. He is a very mellow and trusting little guy and very willingly allows strangers to pet him. He seems unbothered by cats, but due to his previous living condition where he shared a home with four other dogs and was constantly marking to make his presence known, he would do better as an only dog where he gets all the attention and loving that he deserves.

Dougy is not much of a player and prefers to sleep in the day and adores being petted and cuddled. He also loves to stare at you with his big brown hypnotic puppy eyes! He likes to sleep in the bed with his person at night and overall is a low-maintenance dog. He does not like loud noises (yelling, loud music, etc.), and would do best in a calm house as the only pet and where there is at least one stay-at-home parent. A fenced yard is preferred but not a deal breaker. Dougy has not previously been taught to follow commands, but he is a smart little boy and may be able to learn if his new owners have patience and the will to properly train him.

Due to back and neck issues in the past, (calcification of spine & collapsed disc), Dougy may encounter bouts of pain or discomfort in the future and will need meds during those times to help him through. Because of this, it is better that Dougy is discouraged from doing a lot of running or jumping. Could your home be the perfect home for little Dougy?
