My story

Graham (like the cracker) is a happy, curious, energetic, 1 year old pup who is equally smart and handsome! Graham recently celebrated his 1 month anniversary with his P4P foster family and has already learned six commands: Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Paw (both sides) and roll over (both ways)!

Graham can express his excitement and stress with mouthy behavior at times but he has been working very hard to unlearn these tendencies and is making slow but steady progress. He’s a young pup who means well, is eager to learn, and will make a great companion for those willing to put in the time!

Graham loves to go on walks to enjoy the fresh air, rolling in the grass, playing with toys (tug-o-war or fetch anyone?), showing off his command knowledge for treats, and playing in the water on hot summer days. He’s incredibly smart (he has been able to figure out every puzzle toy that we’ve placed in front of him), is happy to entertain himself for stretches of time (although he’d prefer human company), and takes treats gently most of the time.

Graham would do best as the only pet in the household, with an experienced and active pitbull owner willing to work on perfecting his manners. The perfect fit would be a home with kids 12 years or older and a family that will keep him safe from interactions with other people’s pets. He loves to be the center of attention and has enough energy to give the whole family.

Please note that we do not have a facility or shelter where you can view adoptables. We are a foster-based rescue in Chicago-land, which means that each dog is placed with a family in the area. This allows us to better understand each dog's individual personalities.

You must complete an application before you can schedule a meet and greet with each animal. The application can be found here: or if you prefer a Word version, download it here: and email it to Our adoption fee is typically $350 for an adult dog, and $400 for a dog under one year. It includes all vetting and spay/neuter.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The first step in the adoption process is fill out an application at our website, Once we receive your application, a volunteer will contact you to discuss your application. Two to four references listed on the application will be checked, along with a check with your veterinarian to make sure your current/former pets are up to date on all vaccinations. A background check and home visit will also be performed. Once all that is complete, we will arrange meet and greets with dogs that may be a good fit for your family. If a perfect match is found, an adoption contract will need to be signed, along with an adoption fee. Fees range from $250-$350, with a $50 discount/rebate upon completion of a Peace for Pits approved obedience course.

More about this rescue

Peace for Pits is a Chicago area based rescue that focuses on finding loving, caring homes for “bully” breeds in need of help. Many of these dogs come from facilities across the midwest, arriving there as a stray or unfathomably being surrendered by their so called “owners.” Some of these dogs arrive with severe injuries and other health problems due to neglect and or trauma. Our mission is to save as many of these dogs from euthanasia as possible. We are a 100% volunteer run organization, with every dog living in a wonderful foster home from the day it becomes a part of our rescue until the day they get adopted into an amazing forever home. All of our dogs get neutered or spayed, are given all state mandated vaccinations, are microchipped, and if needed, receive other major veterinary care such as surgery or treatments for diseases and infections. When a dog becomes a member of Peace for Pits, it becomes a member for life. We are here for continued support for each adopted dog. We stay in frequent contact with each and every adopter to assure they have all the knowledge and tools to care for their four legged family member. We do all of this to make sure each dog lives a life of PEACE.
