My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Xena is a a true warrior with a tender heart. She craves love and affection from her people but is also an independent girl. Xena is good with other dogs if properly introduced but prefer a home with no other dominate females. She loves her male dogo brother and plays hard with him so a dog that is equal in size (she is a smaller female approx 75 lbs) and can keep up with her energy is ideal. She is very athletic with high prey drive so she will need a home with a secure 6ft privacy fence. Xena loves to play catch and her favorite toy is a squeaky ball. She also loves blankets and will drag it around the house and make herself a comfy spot to sleep in. She needs a home where they will be consistant with training and giving her boundries. She is very food motivated and is eager to learn. Carrot are one of her favorite treats. Xena would thrive in a very active home with no small children. She is currently located in Cincinnati OH. Transport can be arranged to approved homes.

Dogos are a wonderful breed but we urge anyone interested to dig in and do a lot of research before deciding if they are a good fit for your home. They require a lot of attention and training with them never ends! Boundaries must be enforced and they often need reminders as they push past boundaires you set! Dogos are loving, kind and gentle but don't mistake that for weakness because they are equally powerful and intense as well! Everyone in the home must be on board with having a dogo and play a major role in their daily routines and training. Yes it is work, but the rewards are ten-fold! Lazy homes don't work for dogos as they need stimulation, exercise, and lots of attention too during their younger years. Our goal in rescue is to be as transparent as we can about each and every dog plus make sure new families really understand the needs of a dogo!
