My story

Dewey is 30lbs of crazy in a 10lb bag, and we just love him for it! This young, handsome goober LOVES his frisbee and thinks playtime is all the time. He would make a spectacular jogging or hiking partner for someone active; couch potato living just isn't for this guy. Dewey is also incredibly intelligent, already knowing "sit," "lie down," "shake," and "stay." He is friends with a mellow dog at the shelter so we think he'd do fine with another dog in the home. Dewey does have some barrier issues, meaning he acts pretty crazy behind the kennel toward a stranger, but it's only behind the barrier of the kennel. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped!

Additional adoption info

We ask a donation made out to Teacher's Pet Rescue.
We spay/neuter before adoption. All dogs are up to date with vaccines, are microchipped and are treated for fleas and parasites.

While we do not discriminate based on income, we reserve the right to turn away any potential adopter who does not meet our standards of care for the animal. We also reserve the right to conduct a home visit and remove any animal from the adopted home if that animal is being mistreated or tethered outside for more than a reasonable period of time (dependent on weather conditions). We believe that dogs are social animals and must be with their families. We understand that people must work and that a dog may be left in the house or other suitable place. We do not support tethering the animal during this period of time. Dogs should not be left unattended 24/7.

Interested parties are required to complete the correct form, whether it be a surrender or adoption.

More about this rescue

Check out our wonderful dogs for adoption.
We are a 501 (c) 3 non-profit association and are located in Coudersport.
Our goal is to lessen the suffering and neglect of animals and to help people who have to give up their dogs. We also want to assist people who wish to open their hearts and homes to a new family member.

There are a large number of animals in Potter County that are in need of help and Potter County does not have an SPCA. Our goal is to assist dogs in the area that are turned in to us, rehabilitate dogs when necessary, and teach socialization skills.

Although we currently have limited space and resources, we are here to help.
