My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gumbo - American Bulldog - Male - 7 Months - www.twyla.org

Meet Gumbo: this gorgeous 7-month-old male American Bulldog is entertainment and snuggles wrapped into a BIG package. Gumbo is all big teenage puppy = curious about everything and sorting the world around him into 2 sections: eatable and not-quite eatable. He is very smart and learns quickly, LOVES to play with other dogs and toys and can quite happily entertain himself with a toy while is foster sibling rests up for the next round of play. Gumbo is still growing and expected to top our around 120lbs - so he is looking not only for a family that can house his size, but also a handler than he can't drag all over the place until he has learned better leash manners. Gumbo is great with other dogs - best with dogs of similar size and energy level so he doesn't accidentally hurt a little dog - he ignores cats, and likes kids. He would do best with older kids as he has no idea how big he is and will bowl smaller kids over without even noticing.

Gumbo is looking for a home with another dog for him to play with (so similar size and energy level), a large enough yard for him to play in with a sturdy enough fence to contain him. He does not like being alone and would like a family where someone is home a lot for him to be part of daily activities. Due to his size he is looking for a somewhat experienced handler, he is not a good "starter dog". Patience, time and lots of attention and affection are required to keep him out of trouble, entertained and help him develop into the amazing family dog we know he can be.

***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***
