My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shorty, in search of a little space for my BIG heart!

Hi! My name is Shorty! I am a 2 year-old, male, Chihuahua mix weighing in at a whopping 15 pounds. I am here because the wonderful people at The Cantu Foundation found me living in an empty lot and they saved me! I was super skinny and in need of lots of love and lots of food. Despite my outdoorsy existence, I am house, leash, and crate trained and ready to come home with you. I just know we can be best friends!

I don’t bark much, am a little skittish while I warm up to new people and places, but always gentle. I love play time and have lots of energy. Going for walks and playing ball are my two favorite activities!. After play time, my foster mom says I am very calm and snuggly. I do have some anxiety and can be shy at first so I hope you will be patient with me as I get used to my new home. I am teachable and want to make my human friends happy and give you lots of unconditional love! I haven’t played much with other dogs at my foster home, but I don’t bark when dogs walk by. I don’t care much for cats and hope that any of my future human siblings are teenagers or older.

My perfect home would be with patient humans that will give me the time I need to warm up to my new surroundings. I’ll probably need some time to get used to any future dog siblings and won’t like going to a home with cats or young kids. I don’t like to be left alone for too long so a quiet home where my mommy and/or daddy works from home would be amazing! I hope you can give me a supportive environment and can spend time working with me on my insecurities and having exercise and play time together! My adoption fee is $400 and that includes spaying/neutering and vetting care. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here http://www.thecantufoundation.org/adopt.html!
