My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wanda was surrendered to a very rural shelter in SC with 7 of her siblings. She lived outside her whole life and it seems she may have had a litter of pups at some point. She was petrified at the shelter and sat in one spot shaking and refusing to move. She would avoid all contact and try to make herself disappear into the walls and turn into a statue. She figured if she didn't move, no one would notice her. We couldn't bear seeing her so scared so we took a chance on her and pulled her into rescue. Well we noticed her and could not bear to see her deteriorate like that so she is now safe in her foster home here in MD. From day one it was clear that she had never felt love from a human or been indoors. It took a few weeks of time and patience and Wanda slowly has come around. She now loves to be inside and has learned that the couch is one amazing place to be on. She absolutely loves other dogs and migrates to all of them. She loves to play with toys and when no one is watching, she will throw them up in the air and chase them. She still has a long way to go but with the right family, she will do amazing. She needs someone who will take the time to build her trust and show her that she is safe.  Wanda has a great personality and really needs a home with other social confident dogs to help her build on her own confidence. Wanda does require a home with a privacy fence and would do best with older considerate kids who can understand that she is still fearful and needs time and space.  Wanda is only a year and a half old and maybe 40 lbs. She has adorable short stumpy legs and a long body with pointy ears. She resembles an adorable little fox who really wants to be brave and wants someone to show her it is okay to be that brave little girl.
