This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

Introducing Elena. Elena is a sweet adult, looking for a loving home to settle into.
Elena was found as a stray in a Dallas suburb. She was thin and hungry. Elena was not wearing a collar and had no microchip. A Good Samaritan family took her off the streets, kept her safe in their home and looked for her family for several weeks. They then reached out to CRT and asked us to bring her into our program and help her find a new forever home. We are so happy we said “yes” to this girl because she is the sweetest thing!
Elena has a mellow, laid back personality. Elena gets along well with the other small dog in her foster home. She immediately fit into the pack in her foster home. She has a perfect lady-like personality, very polite. She enjoys being in the same area as the other dog, but prefers her own soft dog bed and will supervise the activity! She is past the “playing” stage so does not play much with other dogs or with toys. She enjoys going outside and laying in the sun. And she enjoys hanging around the other dog to make sure she does not miss any adventures.
Elena loves her people. She loves being in the same room as her family. Her favorite thing to do is to snuggle in a doggie bed or on the couch with soft blankets while you work on your computer or watch TV. She is not one to get up on your lap. But she loves to lay next to you on the couch, snuggled into blankets. She enjoys belly rubs, back massages and having her neck and ears scratched. Elena wants companionship, and is happy just being your BFF. She would be a great choice for a work-at-home family as she is super quiet.
Elena celebrates every day with love and joy. When she sees her favorite human, she is peppy and will bounce around with joy. If she thinks you are heading for the treat jar, she spins in a circle and wags her tail as fast as it will go! She loves laying out in the sun. And she enjoys quick power naps throughout the day.
Elena is about 8 – 10 years old. Our vet has given her a complete physical and says she is very healthy (heart and lungs are great). She does have a few “middle age” maintenance things we are addressing. Elena has a bit of dry eyes, and our vet recommended daily eye drops. She is great about letting us put these in. Elena’s teeth were in tough shape (due to neglect from her original owners). CRT gave her a full dental, where she lost several teeth, but she is feeling great and loves to eat. LOL. We do think she has a little hearing loss – she can hear but does not react as quickly as other dogs do. Elena is petite and weighs about 6 pounds. Elena has a beautiful tan coat with white highlights. We love her eyes.
The perfect home for Elena would be a moderate to laid back home with lots of family time and love to share. We believe Elena would do well as an only dog or would fit into a pack. She would do well in an apartment or in a home. There are no children in her current foster home, but she was around children with the family who found her and did fine. Elena is completely potty trained. She will go to the door to tell you when she needs to go out. Elena sleeps in either a crate, or her favorite spot on the couch at night. She has begun to take daily walks and enjoys both the walk, and her treat at the end! Some family is going to hit the jackpot with this girl.

Elena is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative and on heartworm prevention. She is ready to join a loving family – could that family be yours?
This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $270.63 adoption donation required ($250 adoption donation and $20.63 Texas Sales Tax). Note: as of 1-1-20, the Texas State Comptroller office is requiring all rescue groups to collect sales tax on adoptions, even though we are all 501c3. We are all fighting this, but for now, have been told it is non-negotiable.
As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.
