“Santa” – Long Hair Chihuahua / Pomeranian mix – Male – about 15 lbs – about 10 years old
We adopted Santa in 2016 from the SPCA. He’s a happy-go-lucky dog, loves playing fetch with his small ball indoors, and is moderate-higher energy indoors / calmer outdoors. Knows basic commands, walks obediently with a slack leash outdoors, and can be afraid of bigger dogs when he’s on-leash. Santa barks a lot at the doorbell, warms up to new guests (jumping into laps for petting - can be unwelcome), has separation anxiety upon owner leaving the home, and anxiety in unfamiliar situations which could be worked on more through training. In a few instances, Santa has shown (fear-based, we believe) aggression towards tall/large people and has nipped at fingers.
We are looking to re-home him because we now have a 1 year old toddler at home and do not have the trust to leave them together unsupervised. As such, Santa has been staying in a separate room and integrating with our family less.
