*100% potty-trained, ZERO accidents in the house since day one.
*No food or toy guarding
*No jumping up on people
*No mouthiness or play-biting
*Appropriate chewing behaviors, i.e., chews toys not shoes, furniture, etc.
*No digging
*No table/counter surfing
*NO dog aggression or dog selectivity so far! None. Good w dogs of all sizes and temperaments so far. Has a lot of energy when playing though so would do best w a dog close in size or larger.
*Not tested with cats.
*Friendly, calm, and gentle with kids of all ages that he meets on walks. Will remain calm when even multiple kids are petting him at once. Does NOT jump up or lunge at them.
*Very occasionally will bark or wine for attention from people or from our little dog, but rarely does so anymore—responding really well to being ignored or redirected when he has those behaviors.
*Is easy on leash 85% of the time. Exhibits some pulling behaviors first 10-15 minutes outside and/or around other dogs. He’s making progress but will need continued training and consistency in this area. Definitely NOT a major puller though. He’s pretty easy to walk.
*Does hv some leash reactivity toward other dogs, but it’s excited/playful behavior, not fearful/aggressive behavior
*Is a cuddler but will give space as well. Absolutely loves to be around his people but is able to exercise independence, i.e. not a “Velcro” dog. Can also self-entertain and play independently w his toys.
*Learned “sit” and “stay” quickly. Doesn’t know any other commands yet.
*Is able to jog very well and on pace with me (provided he doesn’t see another dog en route 😂)
* LOVES LOVES LOVES playing fetch and chasing tennis balls specifically. 50% of the time he will drop it/give it you when playing fetch but hasn’t quite figured that part out yet 😉 he’ll also happily run around carrying a tennis ball in his mouth!
*He’s a door dasher! He will try to run out the front door if he has the chance and he’s quick. Working on it but will need someone willing to continue that training and take precautions and put safety measures in place so he doesn’t get out. He will also jump in onto a window ledge like a cat if the window is wide open leaving just the screen between him and the outdoors. He’s obvi much heavier than a cat lol so he could easily knock the screen out. Just an FYI.
*Just an all around a great dog who would do best with a fenced yard to run off that young adolescent energy or someone very committed to taking him on LONG walks/jogs and/or to the dog park almost daily.
ABOUT PEACE 4 PITS RESCUE:
Please note that we do not have a facility or shelter where you can view adoptables. We are a foster-based rescue in Chicago-land, which means that each dog is placed with a family in the area. This allows us to better understand each dog's individual personalities.
You must complete an application before you can schedule a meet and greet with each animal. The application can be found here: http://peaceforpits.org/adoptionfoster-application/ or if you prefer a Word version, download it here: https://goo.gl/bKo84P and email it to p4papplications@gmail.com. Our adoption fee is typically $350 for an adult dog, and $400 for a dog under one year. It includes all vetting and spay/neuter.
