My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Bella
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: Approximately 10 years
WEIGHT: About 15 pounds
DOGS/CATS: Gets along well with other dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Gets along well with children

Meet Bella. This sweet girl put on her “serious” look for her professional pictures. She wanted you to see her soulful side. But let us tell you, she fun and happy in her foster home and wants to share her love with you.

Two months ago, Bella was excited when her family was talking about moving to California. They packed up the house and got everything ready. Her life quickly turned upside down when her family dropped her off at a local shelter. The family told the shelter that they were taking their two young puppies, but did not have room to take Bella. Wow. Bella could not believe it. They turned their back on her love and loyalty. Bella was on her best behavior at the shelter, but no one stepped up to adopt her. Finally after 60 days, a CRT volunteer spotted her and her beautiful eyes. Although Bella is a Chihuahua mix and a little larger than our typical CRT fosters, we could not leave her. Bella is thrilled to be a part of our CRT program and is looking for a forever home to embrace.

Bella gets along with the other small dogs in her foster home. She fits into the pack and goes with the flow. She defers to the alpha in her foster home – Bella just wants to get along! She has medium energy and will run with the other dogs in the yard. She loves being outside and exploring. She also loves toys. The soft squeaky ones are her favorites. Bella carries them everywhere.

Bella adores her humans. She is so excited when you come home from work. She will meet you at the door with a wagging tail and a happy smile. Bella loves to be in the same room that you are, just so she can see what you are doing. She loves to snuggle and will gladly climb up on the couch and lay her head on you while you watch TV. She would be great for a family that is home a lot as she just loves her people! Great companion dog! Bella loves children. We think she would be fine as an only dog too.

Bella is super smart. She is potty trained and has not had one accident in her foster home. She is also crate trained, but she loves to crawl up into bed and cuddle with you. If you are open to Bella sleeping with you, she would be thrilled. We have noticed she is a little nervous during thunder storms (thunder / lightening) and wants to be close to you during those times. But it is not excessive.

Our vet estimates Bella to be about 10 years old (her family left no vet records so we are not 100% sure how old she is). Remember that Chihuahuas can live to be 15 – 18 years old, so she has plenty of life ahead of her. Bella is a mix and weighs about 15 pounds. We were so surprised when we weighed her as she does not look big. Her weight is perfect for her frame. She has long beautiful legs. Bella has deep brown eyes that connect with your soul. She is black, silver and has some brindle coloring on her legs!

Bella has integrated so quickly into her foster home. She just wants to be a part of a loving pack, and give love back to you. If your home needs a loyal companion, Bella wants to volunteer to be your best friend.

Bella is being fostered in the DFW (Texas) area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Bella is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative. and on heartworm prevention. She is ready to join a loving family – could that family be yours?

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $270.63 adoption donation required ($250 adoption donation and $20.63 Texas Sales Tax). Note: as of 1-1-20, the Texas State Comptroller office is requiring all rescue groups to collect sales tax on adoptions, even though we are all 501c3. We are all fighting this, but for now, have been told it is non-negotiable.

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.

After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
