Meet one of newest CRT puppies – Olive!
Precious Olive was dumped at the Collin County Animal Shelter when she was only 3 weeks old. The people said they had bought her for $5 and she had too many fleas. 🙁 Fortunately the shelter called one of our CRT volunteers and asked if we could help. When we arrived at the shelter, we found her so tiny she could fit into the palm of your hand and weighed less than 1 pound. Since she hadn’t even cut any teeth yet, she ate puppy formula for the first few weeks. She has now grown into a 5 lb, energetic puppy who wants to play all day. Olive loves chew toys (she is currently teething) and napping on the sofa with her people. She has always slept in her crate and now she goes inside at bedtime all on her own. We are still working on potty training. She is coming along really well and will potty outside every time she goes. She will also use the pee pad if she is in the house.
Olive has a beautiful black and tan coat and adorable floppy ears. We had a DNA test on Olive and found out she is 55% Chihuahua, 13% Minature Pinscher, 9% Barbet, 5% Papillon and 5% Beagle, with a little Yorkie and Pug mixed in! Whatever she is, she is a super sweet puppy and will make someone a wonderful companion. Based on the results of Olive’s DNA test, they believe she will be somewhere between 10 and 20 lbs. We think Olive would be great in a family with kids aged 5 or older and/or other dogs. She is very laid back as far as other dogs. Her foster family has 4 dogs ranging in size from a 5 lb Chihuahua to a 40 lb Aussie. She loves them all.
Olive is receiving her final round of vaccines in late November and will be spayed by mid-December, at which time she should be all ready to go to her forever home!
Olive is being fostered in the DFW area. If this sweet girl sounds like the right fit for your home, our CRT adoption form can be found at HTTP://www.chihuahua-Rescue.com/adoption-application/
Olive will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention.
This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $324.75 adoption donation required ($300 adoption donation and $24.75 Texas Sales Tax). Note: as of 1-1-20, the Texas State Comptroller office is requiring all rescue groups to collect sales tax on adoptions, even though we are all 501c3. We are all fighting this, but for now, have been told it is non-negotiable.
As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.
After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
