Lil Miss Pumpkin joined our rescue one late Saturday night in September after we were contacted by a local emergency vet. At only 1 yr old, she found herself pregnant, unable to give birth on her own and in a lot of pain. Pumpkin was in need of an emergency C-section which ultimately saved her life and the life of her 2 babies. She is now ready for adoption to the best home ever and will never have to experience that pain again! She is 6 lbs of sugar and spice all rolled into one! Her favorite place to be is on your lap. She likes to hide/bury her food in her blankets and then come back later for a little snack. In the car she is a little anxious unless she is on a lap so youll need a passenger lap for her or she will need to be secured/tethered. Pumpkin is a typical terrier and will bark when visitors come to the home. Once she knows you, she is friendly but must be given the time to warm up to you on her own terms. She is not a dog that should be overwhelmed or forced to meet someone. She does well with the other dogs in her foster home but would fine and probably better as an only dog that can soak up all the attention from her people herself. Shes not a huge fan of the cats in the home, will chase them and does not like them near her food. A calmer home with not much in and out traffic would be ideal given her reluctance to meeting strangers. If there are children in the home, they should be older/considerate children, preferably 12 and older. Pumpkin is easily intimidated by hats, helmets, goggles, things typically not worn inside so this needs to be a consideration for her new home. While she does have some quirks to her personality, she is extremely loyal to the people that care for her daily and give her love. She is great on leash, will need continued work on house training due to her not wanting to leave her puppies to go potty outside for weeks.
