My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 04/09/2024: Clever had met a wonderful pigeon named Lemon, and fell in love. With his new wife, he transferred from Ploughshares to a foster aviary with one of our wonderful foster volunteers. There he found the quiet, slow-lane life he needed. Sadly, his wife Lemon passed away and has left him befreft. Keep Clever in your thoughts, and send him all the loving vibes he needs to heal with this loss. We love you, Clever!

Update 6/1/23: Clever is a mellow senior citizen King pigeon who would love to be fostered or adopted in a slow-lane-style setting & bonus score if there is a single lady who might like his type. Clever's mate Augustus divorced him last year. Due to foster home availability changes, he's been transferred to the Ploughshares foster flock in Alameda & seems to be settling in but he's showing his age & time will tell if he has the moves to get remarried in this big busy flock.

Update 11/21/20: Clever has married a gentle racing survivor named Augustus and they have moved to a new foster aviary. Clever has blossomed into a grown up guy with lots of personality!

Update 7/5/2020: Today, Clever went off to a new foster to adopt aviary where we hope he will make a love match!

Clever is a survivor of the squab industry who was inhumanely released then sought shelter in Alameda backyards until injured by a predator. He cleverly survived by self-rescuing in a public beach bathroom.

We initially thought Clever was a girl but as soon as he got more comfortable in foster care he started strutting for himself in the mirror and for his reflection in the window at night.

Clever is quite mellow and keeps to himself. He’s becoming less flighty when approached by his foster mom but he's still got a ways to go. She is helping to clean some oily dirt from Clever’s feathers. In his current state, he can't fly well and that’s probably affecting his confidence. We think that when he’s finally clean and relaxed, he will turn into a whole new bird! He's already super smart and is starting to train his foster mom to do what he wants! He is also getting used to pants. Clever is on the way to making a wonderful pet pigeon. Please apply to adopt http://www.pigeonrescue.org/birds/apply-to-foster-or-adopt/April 25, 2024, 6:39 am

Go meet their pets

We are a volunteer-powered rescue and our birds are lovingly cared for in the private homes and backyard aviaries of our foster volunteers. Potential adopters can make appointments to meet our birds and we are at adoption & outreach events almost every weekend. See our Events page at www.PigeonRescue.org and visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/PigeonDiplomacy/ for details.

More about this rescue

Palomacy Pigeon & Dove Adoption saves homeless domestic (unreleasable) pigeons and doves in the SF/Bay Area from euthanasia by providing veterinary care, foster and forever homes.

Palomacy fills a deadly gap in the animal welfare community by saving the lives of domestic/unreleasable doves and pigeons that would otherwise be killed. We're volunteer-powered, donation supported and culture changing! By providing avian vet care, foster and forever homes, we've saved more than 700 birds' lives since 2007.
