My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rusty, a 7-year-old Cattle Dog mix; a boarding/volunteer favorite! This handsome boy’s rust-colored coat blends in beautifully with the colorful Autumn leaves. Fall is a season of “letting go” with the promise of a new beginning. As a long-time Faith Hope & Love Rescue resident, Rusty is ready to “let go” of his past and move towards his own new beginning.

This handsome, intelligent, playful bundle of love enjoys leisurely walks which allows his nose and natural curiosity to explore his surroundings. His gentle leash manners make him the perfect walking companion; a fenced yard would provide him the opportunity to expend his fun-energy. He loves running, playing with his favorite toys, and being outdoors.

Another favorite of Rusty’s is car rides. He loves them! If given the chance, he will ride shotgun. But, no worries; he won’t tell you how to drive. He also finds the ride just as enjoyable in the back seat. As long as he’s with the one(s) he loves, he’s one content canine.
Rusty knows his basic commands; it gives him great pride and confidence showing people how smart he is. And, he thrives on the praise, pets, and attention. The fact that he is treat motivated helps make learning new things easier and fun.

At boarding, Rusty has a wonderful canine female friend and playmate. He prefers the company of female dogs who have a more submissive demeanor. (He would require a meet and greet or possible slow introduction with any dog.) On his walks, Rusty has shown no signs of prey motivation. However, he has not been cat tested.

Rusty’s previous adopters did not provide the calmer environment he needed for success. As a result, he would be best suited in a mature home, free of children. Rusty would thrive in a home where he’s the center of attention; a place where he can shine; a home where he can spend the rest of his life showering his [adult] human (s) with unconditional love, loyalty, laughter, and leave them with unforgettable memories.

For Rusty, finding his forever home would put him on the road to his new beginning, his second chance; something for which he’s been waiting far too long. He needs someone with a big, soft heart; someone who’s willing to give him time, love, and patience: the things he needs to prove himself worthy of that second chance.
Rusty’s family is out there. The FHL Team and your shares will help them find him.
[Adoption would be a dream come true for Rusty; fostering would be the next best step towards the dream.]
