Bubbles is a sweet dog that came to the shelter from the North Complex Fire back in 2020. Sadly his owners weren't able to be located, so he needs a forever home of his own!
He's currently in a foster home; here's what foster mom Shelly has to say about Bubbles:
"Bubbles is a super sweet, fun dog. We love having him around! He's been at our house since July 8. When he got to our house he loved me right away, but it took him a few days to warm up to my husband. He seems to be instantly comfortable when meeting new people if they are women, but he is a little wary around men, at least initially. But a few treats goes a long way towards making a friend of Bubbles!
There are so many great things about Bubbles! He is completely 100% house-trained - he's never had an accident in the house! He loves going on walks. He pulls a little bit initially because he is so excited, but then settles down and is great on the leash. Bubbles is a senior gentleman, so we are currently going for a short walk in the morning and a short walk in the evening which seems to suit him just fine. He loves toys, and will carry a stuffed animal toy around all day! He sleeps quietly through the night, and barks when there is something to bark at (mail delivery, etc.) but otherwise he is quiet. He shows zero aggression, and should be fine in a home with kids.
Bubbles is also quite a picky eater, so it may take a few tries before he finds a food that suits him. But other than that, Bubbles is the ideal pet. Bubbles is healthy, neutered, and available for adoption now! If you'd like to meet Bubbles or have any questions about him, fill out an adoption application. We hope you will consider this sweet senior dog if you're looking for a new family member!"

More about this shelter
The Chico Animal Shelter is owned by the City of Chico and operated by the City of Chico Police Department. We take in all stray dogs found in the incorporated area of the City of Chico. People wishing to surrender their dogs are asked to call the shelter to make an appointment. The shelter does not impound healthy stray cats, including feral or trapped cats. Please see our website for more information about stray cats, and where to surrender owned cats. Although we are an open admission shelter, we follow the state policy that no adoptable animal should be euthanized. To that end, we work with rescue groups, humane societies and other organizations to adopt out animals.
