My story

Friends to the Forlorn

Estimated Date of Birth: September 26, 2017
Weight:  56 Pounds
Location:  Dallas, Ga

Bluebelle found herself at animal control, along with her nine puppies, after her owner called AC on his own dogs when she become protective of her puppies. She remained protective of her puppies at the pound and other rescue groups would not touch an aggressive mom. When they started to get sick, they became urgent; AC was considering separating mom and pups, as other groups would likely take the puppies alone, but that’s not how we work. At FTTF, we don’t take puppies without the mother. Thankfully, one of our amazing foster homes stepped up to foster the entire family so we were able to bring all ten into FTTF on 9/27/2020.

By the time we got them, all were all very sick with pneumonia. We rented an oxygen generator and built a chamber for them but, even with around-the-clock care, we lost four pups. However, thanks to the amazing care given by their foster family and everyone at New Hope Animal Hospital, Bluebelle and her five remaining pups fully recovered and all the puppies were adopted in to loving homes.

Bluebelle also known as "Mama" is in a foster home with our dog trainer who has been working with her diligently.  She is an alpha female that does well with larger male dogs and her best friend is a male Boxer.  She is a loving dog that loves to be cuddled and hugged.  She loves being with her people and is always looking for a lap to get on.  She is a little quirky and will grab her favorite blanket and drag it around with her and loves to show it off!  She does well with teenagers but has not been around young children and we would not feel comfortable placing her in a home with young children.  She is medium energy level and does need a fenced in yard.  She is possessive of balls, toys and bones with dogs and people so she needs a family that can be diligent with rules and boundaries to keep her structured.  She loves to be outside and loves to run and be out with nature.  She does have prey drive and would not do well with cats or farm animals.  This girl is a loving sweet dog and would make an amazing activity partner for running, hiking etc.  She loves walking on trails and also loves running through sprinklers.  She knows all basic commands and follows rules great.  She is crate trained, housebroken and loves riding in the car and on golf carts.  She is not skiddish and is a confident female dog.  We know there is a home out there for her - is it with you?
