My story

Pancakes (76 lbs) was used as a breeding machine all of her life, and when she was no longer useful, her previous owners just threw her out on the streets. For many weeks she lived in a tire shop, chained and alone. The shop owner didn’t know what to do with her after he had discovered her at his place one morning. He took care of her for as long as he could, but he was unable to find anyone willing to help. As soon as we heard about this poor neglected dog, we rushed to her rescue. In our care Pancakes was diagnosed with an elongated soft palate, which prevented her from breathing properly. This illness is caused by overbreeding and commonly affects breeds such as bulldogs. After being seen by a specialist, we’ve learned that unless Pancakes has a surgery called an Elongated Soft Palate Trim, she wouldn't be able to have a quality of life, and so we did what we had to do. Months later, Pancakes is fully recovered, and what is like a new dog! She is more active, and she's finally able to enjoy the long walks. While Pancakes is extremely friendly with people, she's very curious about other dogs. And because she didn't learn how to introduce herself to a new dog properly or how to interact properly without overwhelming another dog, we believe it will be best for her to go to a home with no other animals. Pancakes should go to a family who can take control and show her boundaries, especially on her walks. Pancakes is extremely excited to be outside, so her adopter would have to continue working on her leash manners.
