Keller is a special boy looking for a special home. Keller is about 5 years old who has been diagnosed with advanced cataracts, that he has likely had for most of his life. Since they were left untreated for so long, he is not a candidate for cataract surgery, and has very limited vision. However, you would not know it if you met him. He chases his foster siblings around the yard, finds any food that drops on the floor, frequently follows his foster mom around the house, and has figured out how to open the baby gate. The only treatment he needs for his cataracts is eye drops 3 times a week, which he will allow in exchange for a few treats. Keller has also had a few seizures since coming to Norsled. He is currently taking medication and has not had an seizures since starting it. While it sounds like a lot, 99.9% of the time, he behaves like any other dog.
Keller is a happy-go-lucky boy who gets along well with other dogs. He knows “sit”, “down”, and “in the crate”, uses the doggy door when he wants to go outside, and loves to go for walks. He does well on the leash, but because of his visual limitations, needs verbal warnings when encountering steps or other terrain changes. Like most huskies, Keller is smart, food motivated, and independent. He will follow commands if he feels like it, but is usually easily persuaded with the promise of a treat.
