My story

Ruby was hanging around an apartment building for a month or so trying to slip into any apartment she could. The manager checked around and no one claimed her so she needed to find a home for her. When she was spayed it was found that she was positive for FIV and we were asked to help.

Ruby LOVES attention. She crawls into our laps as soon as we sit down in her room and stays there until we have to get up. She never wants us to leave. She hasn't been with us long but she doesn't seem to like the other cats being around her so she would probably do best as an only cat. Ruby definitely does not like dogs and will try to attack ours if they get too close to the catio fence.

FIV is Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, which slowly weakens a cat's immune system over the years, making them more prone to infections. A cat who tests positive will have a powerful immune system for many years and with a lot of love, a well-balanced diet, good vet care at least once a year, and kept inside, they can live long, healthy lives! It can be passed on to other cats, but not to humans or canines, by blood contact due to deep bite wounds or cuts and can't be passed on through casual contact, mutual grooming, sneezing or sharing food bowls & litter boxes.
