My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hilde is a beautiful, silky-coated white kitten with a grey hat and a few grey spots. She's playful, spunky, quirky, and adorable. She loves to play, purrs up a storm, loves laps. She is small now and probably always will be.
But a cheap date, she's not. Hilde has an extremely rare thyroid condition. It's pretty easy to control, but she will need lifelong medication and twice-yearly vet visits that include bloodwork. The medication is inexpensive, but the vet visits and blood work aren't. With proper care, we have every reason to think she can have a completely normal, healthy life.
The details are that she was born with an underactive thyroid (hypothyroid). This is fairly common in people and dogs, but it's very rare as an inborn condition in cats. She needs daily medication to stimulate her thyroid so that the rest of her organs function properly. She takes her little pill with no problem and responds well to the treatment.
She's irresistible, we know. But please do not inquire about adopting her unless you are willing and able to provide the medication and lifelong veterinary care she needs. Hilde would do best in a home with another cat or a cat-friendly dog.
