Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet #Hudson, available for adoption through Fur the Love of PAWS Rescue! 🧡
#HEREISTHESCOOP 😻
Hudson. Where do I begin? Another tricky kitty who needs just the right home, but we know that home is out there and with your help, and God's guidance - we will find it!
I met Huddie at the city shelter back in December. He was huddled in the corner, so I gave him the name "Hudson." He was scared to death and shaking. I spent a little time with him and knew we should help him, a shelter is no place for such a sensitive guy like this, so we pulled him for rescue.
We had him fully vetted and brought him to the FURcility. We learned that he was found as a stray outside the library, clinging to the windowsill and crying over and over and over. They took him inside to a back room where he hid behind a file cabinet. They called for help and a kind woman was able to get him out and took him to the shelter. He was never mean, aggressive or anything close. Just absolutely terrified. 💔
He was also terrified once he came to our FURcility after all that. Imagine....
Library experience - terrifying.
Cat ride - terrifying.
Shelter experience - terrifying.
Another car ride - terrifying.
Vet experience - terrifying.
Another car ride - terrifying.
FURcility beginning experience - terrifying.
Just imagine how much this affects an animal, all these experiences. Grant them your compassion and empathy and everything in between, because this is so mentally exhausting for a cat!
Hudson spent some time decompressing at FUR. A lot of time alone. But slowly and surely, he started to find his confidence. Each day he took a step forward in finding himself and trusting us and his environment. He started to explore. Started to investigate. Stared to play. Started to accept affection and pets. Started to relax and realize he was safe.
As Hudson got to know us, we got to know him. We learned that Hudson startles EASY. He is scared of fast movements, new sounds, unfamiliar scents. Anything out of the ordinary sets him back for a bit. He's a very sensitive and tender hearted cat. But in time, he is learning that he is safe and he truly has blossomed in so many ways.
We also learned that Hudson has some tender moments either physically or mentally and can sometimes make you aware of it by nipping. He does so well and goes on and on with out cat nips, and then the next moment you can be petting him and there one comes. We haven't pinpointed why but one common denominator is other cats smells. He is terrified of other cats. He was probably bullied and attacked in the outside world, which has caused him to be on Supreme alert. A facility for cats isn't the best place for him but he is in our big room all alone and does extremely well. However, most of us have other cats so he can get irritated when he picks up that scent.
To be honest, Hudson is still a puzzle with a few pieces out of line, that we can't make fit just yet and hope his to be found family can complete him ❤️
He's an amazing cat - loves to play, needs to be stimulated but not overly physically energetic. He likes to be brushed and snuggle on your lap and be a scarf kitty. He's come so so so so far and we love watching him relax more and more each day, but we know he can continue to grow and finally find complete peace when the home of his dreams is found. ❤️
#FAMILYANDHOMEGOALS:
🧡 I kind of think of Hud like someone walking a tight rope. He's really unsure and wobbly and doesn't trust what he's doing (adjusting to being an indoor pampered pet). But the more he walks the rope (spends time accepting love from humans), the less he will panic and get upset (nip or bat). He just needs that cat savvy owner to accept him exactly how he is, help him to adjust and let him realize he is forever loved and safe. That alone will do more than absolutely anything.
🧡 Hudson loves and will need a lot of toys. If you like a people oriented home, probably not right for Hud. He's going to want a cat tree, electronic toys, wands, toys to chase, etc. A real cat friendly home is going to keep him fulfilled!
🧡 Hudson loves to snuggle but also likes his alone time and let's you know which he wants. He seeks out attention and then goes and does his own thing.
🤸♀️ Hudson has been good with all of the many children of various ages we have had him with. However, he does nip occasionally and for that reason, we recommend older kids who know how to respect a cats bounderies. 12+ is ideal.
🐈 Huddie wants to be the only cat in a home.
🐕 Huddie was fine when tested with dogs, but the dogs should be cat friendly and allow several inquiries from him, including maybe some batting and close smells.
▪️ Hudson is litter trained and uses a large covered box made by Nature's Miracle and clumping non scented, dust free litter.
3️⃣ Three words that best describe Hud:
#unsure #playful #willing
#ADOPTIONREQUIREMENTS:
🏡 Stable living environment (home ownership or lengthy rental history)
🛋 Indoor home only
🌳 Should have a cat tree for maximum happiness
⛲ We highly recommend Petsafe Cat Fountains for all cats.
