My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET CORKY! He is a little Italian Greyhound mix. Corky is only 2 years old and weighs 6.5 pounds. Corky is being fostered in Titusville, FL.
Due to Covid-19 all dogs fostered in the state of Florida must be adopted within the State of Florida.

UPDATED BIO 01/10/2021: Who would have thought that an adorable, tiny little Italian Greyhound Mix would be in a Yorkie rescue group? When you know there is a shelter dog that needs you, one who needs to be out of the shelter and in a quiet, safe place, there is no question that our hearts would open up to little Corky and make him our first United Yorkie Rescue Italian Greyhound Mix rescue boy.

Corky was found by Animal Control wandering the streets back in late December no microchip was found. He was posted on the shelter website and he waited and waited for his family to come find him and take him home. No one came for him. This tiny dog didn't belong in a shelter with so many big loud dogs. Finally, the shelter was ready to put him up for adoption, then their vet resigned and there was no one to neuter Corky. The shelter knew the only place for him was a rescue and so this little guy became a United Yorkie Rescue dog.

Corky has only been in his foster home for several days, but that is long enough for his foster family to know that he is the sweetest little boy and they already adore him. He yearns to be around his new foster family and loves to be held and cuddled and snuggled under the covers at night. Corky likes to talk to his family - not a bark or whine - but something in between. He is most likely letting them know how much he appreciates being rescued and finding a temporary loving family to show him that he is safe and that he will never ever end up in a shelter again. His foster family is working with him on reinforcing house-training. He is young and smart and will catch on quickly.

Corky didn't take long to make himself right at home. He hopped right into the bed as if that's what he is supposed to do, and proceeded to sit in a chair at the dinner table. Why not? Of course, this isn't proper puppy protocol, and he is learning house manners and catching on quickly. He thought when he saw one of the resident chickens in the yard that he was supposed to chase it, but that's a no-no lol! The Italian Greyhound is classified as a sight hound, so it's best that Corky's forever family only have perhaps one other dog. Cats, rabbits, etc. would probably not be a good idea. Corky prefers the company of the humans in the home over the other dogs in the home, so he would also be fine as an only doggie.

Because Corky really loves attention from his foster family, it would be nice for him to have a home with at least one stay-at-home parent. Italian Greyhounds are highly social dogs and love attention from their family. Corky still needs to be neutered and have some deciduous baby teeth pulled, and once that is done, he will be ready for his forever home. There is so much more to learn about this sweet little boy, so come back soon to learn more about him.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to Corky's small size, he needs an adult only home or a home with children over the age of 13. Keep in mind Corky is very young and since he has already lost one family, his forever family needs to be one that will be with him for his expected life span of 15 years or more.
