My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This fun-loving, playful senior fella is looking for his new best friend! Is that you?
Jax is around 8 years old. He came to us when his person, sadly, passed away. Jax took it very hard. He didn't eat for days and wouldn’t even take treats. His world was turned upside down and he was so sad and terrified!

We received a bit of information from the family of Jax's previous owner. They told us that he was a Weimaraner/pit mix – and we think there could be some Great Dane in there as well. We were also told that Jax is protective of his person, especially in small spaces and the home but easily makes friends otherwise and a lot of our volunteers absolutely love him!
Jax needs exercise. A fenced in area to run would be great and he loves going for walks! Jax is extremely intelligent and would really like a job if you are hiring. If he does not have one, he takes to sorting trash. Gross! But he thinks someone has to do it!

We have learned that Jax sits funny for treats. His 'sit' is like a little back leg hop. It is so cute that the volunteers just can't resist giving this boy extra treats! If you stop petting Jax, he will let you know by inserting himself under your hand. Jax has never lived with another dog but appears to want to play with some of the other rescue pups. His former person never trusted him around cats, and he does seem to want to chase them. Jax would do best in a home without kiddos or other pets. He really loves ALL the attention!
