My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hatch Date: 2018

John (blue and white) and Yoko (green) are a super sweet and loving bonded 3-year-old parakeet couple.

They love going for their morning flight and chatting with each other throughout the day.

These budgies are full of energy and curiosity and would be a great addition to any home, especially one that can satisfy their free-flight needs.

John and Yoko like exploring the world outside of their cage and flying all around their foster family’s house.
After they earn your trust, they will step up if motivated by millet.

Yoko has laid unfertilized eggs in the past; her foster home has been curbing her hormonal behaviors which is very simple to do.

John and Yoko have been disease tested and will be adopted with his cage and its contents, test results and food to get his forever home started.

John and Yoko are being fostered in Bloomfield, NJ and will only be adopted to a forever home within driving distance.
We will not ship our birds.
For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA - we do not have a central location. As John and Yoko are living in a volunteer's home, we only allow approved applicants to make visits.
If interested in adopting John and Yoko please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org to read our adoption policies & procedures and to complete an adoption application.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption procedure begins with completing an adoption application and returning it to us. We will check your references and then call you for a telephone interview. While we check your references, we will ask that you review an educational power point presentation. After your application is approved, it is our policy that you visit with the bird(s) three times to have multiple interactions with them and give you time to consider the adoption and get ready for your new family member. There is an adoption fee for each bird.
