My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wolfgang is a new arrival at Wayward Ranch! He came to us from the NYC ACC where he was brought as an owner surrender due to his family having dog allergies. He is 8 months old and appears to be a German Shepherd/Husky mix, very tall, and currently underweight at 47 lbs. We think at a proper weight, fully grown he will likely be about 60 lbs.

Wolfgang is all puppy and loves to play! He is very high energy and VERY stubborn. He will need structure, boundaries and rules as much as he will need love. A family with breed experience would be great, but a family that is willing to attend a basic obedience class with him would be even better!

Wolfgang is doing great with his housebreaking and crate training and rarely if ever will have an accident in his crate as long as he is kept on a solid and reliable schedule.

We have seen that Wolfgang will resource guard his food and bones, and because of this we are looking for a home with older children (over 15 years old) who can respect the space of a dog who is eating. In his foster home he is fed in his crate and his resource guarding has not been a problem in that routine, so we feel it will be very easily managed in an adoptive home.

We were told he is friendly with other dogs but have yet to test him ourselves. Because of his resource guarding, at this time we feel he would likely do best as an only dog in his adoptive home, but we may be open to reevaluating this decision in the future if he stays with us.

He will be neutered and fully UTD on vaccines as of February 22nd, so he will be ready to go home as of the 23rd to an approved adopter. If you would be interested in adopting him, you can submit an application at waywardranch.org. and he is also available for approved adopters to meet him prior to the 22nd.
