We've lived with Alfie in Washington DC for 3.5 years. He was picked up from a shelter in June 2017 when he was 2.5 years old. He is now 6.
History - For the first 2.5 years of his life, Alfie was physically and emotionally abused by his original owner. He was socialized with one other dog who was also raised in an abusive manner and was aggressive with him.
Personality - Alfie is an extremely loving and playful pup who is innocent in all of his actions, but as a result of his abuse he is very anxious, fearful, and submissive. He has little impulse control, is scared of other dogs, and has separation anxiety.
Needs - Alfie is in good health with no history, and he self-regulates his own food and water consumption. His needs are behavioral in nature: A patient dog to socialize with, a yard to play in, and possibly behavioral training.
With much sadness, we want to give Alf away as we cannot meet the needs to sooth his anxiety. Training, space, and a doggo friend are what he needs.
