My story

** Needs to be an only cat ** Nicknamed "Queen of the shelter" by long time volunteers, Minerva is quite the lady who has a mind of her own and doesn't hesitate to show it. She would be a wonderful addition to the right home - whether it's a foster or adopter..

Underneath her gorgeous exquisite tortoiseshell furs and her no-nonsense exterior is a soft heart of gold, and after a tiny bit of sulking, she is in fact delighted to entertain.

She would be best suited as an only cat since she can sometimes be a bit of a diva and doesn’t always get along with her fellow felines. Being an independent girl, she will let you know when she's had enough petting; she may swat once in a while, only when she's had enough, so she should not be with younger children.
She is healthy, vetted, vaccinated, an expert at using her litter box, and a good eater.

Minerva just needs a quiet place to call her own where she can spend her days bird watching—her favorite pastime!

Help us get Minerva to the forever home she deserves! While she waits, she’d happily accept a long term foster to keep her company.

Go meet their pets

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, in-person adoption events are not taking place. However, we can arrange virtual meet & greets with animals in the shelter or in foster homes. A few fosters allow in-person meets. We have a small adoption center inside NYC Pet, 218 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215. Email foranimalsnyc@gmail.com for info on the kitties in this location. You can meet the cats there in person during store hours. As for the Queens shelter, if your adoption application is approved, you can schedule an appointment there.

More about this rescue

Who we are For Animals, Inc. is a local TNR (trap, neuter, return) group. We are a New York State not for profit Corporation with (501) C-3 status, staffed and operated by people with many years of experience rescuing and taking care of abandoned animals. What we do The focus of our operation is a TNR program. For Animals, Inc. rescues stray and abandoned dogs and cats and then transports them to a veterinarian office where they are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and checked for general health. Afterward, they are fostered in a cage free environment until they are adopted into safe, loving homes. Why we do it With tens of thousands of feral cats on the streets of NYC, our focus is on TNR as an effort to humanely reduce the overall population, one colony at a time. By neutering & spaying the feral cats in the colony and adopting out friendly strays and kittens, the colony stabilizes and begins to shrink over time.
