My story

Let’s play! Meet the marvelous Ms. Meka; a female American Bulldog mix with a disposition as sunny as her smile. This is one happy dog that enjoys being around people. A stocky medium-sized dog, she was born January 2017 and weighs around 46 pounds. Energetic and enthusiastic, Meka is best suited for a dog-savvy active adult. She is not aggressive but can easily knock over children when she greets them. Her rambunctious play-style is too rough from most dogs and would do best as the only pet in the home. Meka loves outdoor activities and will play fetch for hours. She travels well and would make a great trail buddy. She’s also a big fan of water and enjoys taking a quick dip in a pool or lake. Meka is a well-behaved girl in the home and already housebroken. A home with a large fenced in yard would be ideal. No worries about chewed up furniture or shoes with this girl. If she misbehaves, a stern voice is usually all the correction she needs. She is eager to please and very smart. Come meet this amazing dog!To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Due to the high volume of applications received, our Adoption Coordinator will only contact the applicant that best meets the needs of the pet.

Tour/Adoption Hours:

Fridays: 3pm – 5pm
Saturdays: 11am – 2pm

During adoption hours we have volunteers available to show dogs and cats to the public. For safety/insurance reasons we can only allow those 12 years or older to go into the dog kennel wing of the shelter. We ask all visitors not to stick their fingers/hands into the dog kennels. Our adoptable dogs and cats are viewable through our website. Everyone interested in applying for a dog or cat must submit an application through our website. We receive multiple applications for each animal. Applications for particular animals are based on best fit for each animal based on each animal’s behaviors and needs. An application not being selected for a particular animal does not necessarily mean the application was denied, but just that another application was approved.
