Update from my foster 2/15: He has settled in so well! He hasn't shown any signs of anxiety, and his eating and potty were pretty normal from day one. He's just a very curious and confident guy who will fit into the family from day one!

Turkie was found as a stray in rural South Carolina back in November. He unfortunately was diagnosed with heartworms, which are easily prevented with a simple preventative pill each month. He went through the invasive treatment to cure him of his heartworms but had no where to go so he had to recover on the cold, hard floors of the shelter. Month after month Turkie watched as dogs came in and out of the shelter, waiting and wondering when it would be his turn. Shelter volunteers did their best to make Turkie feel loved and special, but intermittent visits from volunteers cannot compare to a loving home. We saw Turkie's soul slowly start to deteriorate in the shelter environment and knew we had to step in. Turkie is now safe in a foster home and is learning just how wonderful it is to be a loving family member!

Turkie is around 2 years old and 55 pounds. He absolutely adores people and tested very well with other dogs at the shelter. He was a bit too interested in meeting the kitties so he needs a home without cats. Turkie is working on learning all his basic commands and how to be a proper indoor boy. We can't wait to see Turkie blossom with the help of his loving foster family while he waits for his forever family!
