My story

DOB:  7/20/12

Special Needs: Needs a savvy cat parent

Delilah was rescued as a feral kitten in 2012, off the streets of Canoga Park.  She is quite a special cat and needs a super patient, loving human or humans who will give her time to get comfortable with her new surroundings.

Although Delilah lives in a house with other rescue kitties, she tends to be a bit insecure, and exhibits behavior which translates to bullying behavior to other shy or submissive kitties.  That is why I believe she will thrive most in an “only cat” home.  This will allow her sweet personality to come to the foreground, without having to worry about the mixing of personalities.

Delilah has been living in a home with a very mild mannered, well behaved foster dog.  Their introduction was slow and deliberate with ample time separated, to allow for scent and sounds to become normalized.

Delilah is very playful and will benefit from a loving engaged adopter, who might also be willing to put Delilah on a diet, so that she can shed the weight she has gained from stress eating due to a shared living space with other kitties.  Delilah loves to dip her paws in her water bowl/fountain, so she will need a towel under her water bowl, or an absorbing or silicone mat to allow her natural instincts to thrive without conflicting with human rules.

I will remain involved and available for as long as necessary to accommodate Delilah’s smooth transition to her furever home, and will help the proper home with any advice on how to better bond with her.

She truly is a special kitty who will jump into the lap of anyone sitting down, and demand pets and give head-butts, and will make a loving, eccentric lap kitty for a patient and savvy adopter, who will give her the time and attention she deserves to be the awesome kitty she already is.

Please look into your heart and see if this scrumptious, sassy “only kitty” is the right fit for your home.

More about this rescue

Kitten Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization devoted to finding loving homes for unwanted, homeless cats and kittens. We rescue cats and kittens from the streets of Los Angeles and from City Shelter euthanasia. Since our start in 1997, we have grown into one of the largest, most well-respected animal welfare groups in LA.

Kitten Rescue volunteers adopt out over 1,000 cats and kittens into homes every year. We educate the public about responsible pet guardianship, how to care for kittens and cats, and the importance of spaying and neutering. Kitten Rescue makes educational material available via events, print, school presentations and here on our website. We also provide Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) assistance for communities in and around Los Angeles, and teach people how to manage and care for feral cat colonies.
