Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet PHOENIX! I wish I had room to write a book and room to post pictures of his incredible journey and transformation. I posted his before picture and I know it is hard to believe it is the same dog. I will begin at the beginning of his journey. I saw that a neighboring county shelter had found him living in the woods and when I saw his picture I knew that our rescue needed to help him. I called the shelter and said I wanted the dog and they were surprised. I drove about 30 mins to pick him up on August 20th of last year and it was so hot that day. He smelled like rotting flesh or how I would imagine it would smell. At that point I was just hoping I had a dog in the car and not a coyote, wolf or dingo?? I took him straight to the vet where I found out about all of his issues. He had a horrible skin yeast infection, covered in fleas and ticks, a tumor on his leg, malnourished and he was heartworm positive. We started with medicated baths and a high quality dog food. He was put on antibiotics for a month. At the end of the first month he had gained weight and his skin was healing and his fur growing back. He was beginning to look like a dog! A beautiful german shepherd mix! We then started the heartworm treatment and he did very well. Once the treatment was finished we waited a month and then he was neutered and had the tumor removed. We sent it off for biopsy and it came back benign. This brings us to today. After 7 months of healing he is ready for his forever home. He needs space to run but a fence to keep him safe. Phoenix is undoubtedly the most thankful dog we have ever had come through our rescue and the sweetest dog you could ever ask for. He has been through so much and remained sweet and calm throughout it all. Phoenix has been sponsored and his adoption fee is $100.00 (plus 6% KY sales tax)
