My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Gypsy
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: About 10 Months
WEIGHT: About 13 – 14 pounds
DOGS/CATS: Great with other small dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Should be fine with older, mature children (10 and older)

Meet sweet Gypsy. Gypsy is a young puppy who is lively and enjoys life. She is looking for a forever home to grow up in.

Gypsy has had a rough start to her life. She was born into a home in Central Texas with several other Chihuahuas. Unfortunately her human owner un-expectantly passed away. The extended family could not care for all the dogs and reached out to rescues for help. CRT was happy to welcome Gypsy and her Mom (GiGi) into our program. Gypsy has warmed up quickly in her foster home and is gaining confidence weekly. She is going to make a sweet companion for a family.

Gypsy gets along well with the other small dogs in her foster home. She has a submissive personality and will let the other dogs lead the way. Gypsy loves to play and wrestle with her friends. She also like to run in the yard with them. When they are done playing, Gypsy enjoys laying in the sun and sunning herself. Her foster Mom likes to garden in the backyard, and Gypsy loves being outside with her. Gypsy is just beginning to discover toys (we are not sure she had any toys growing up). She loves to chase after balls when you throw them, but has not figured out she is supposed to bring it back to you to throw again – LOL. Even though she is a young puppy, she is past the chewing stage!

Gypsy is shy when she meets new people. Often she will retreat into another room. But then she peeks her head around the door to watch all the activity. As soon as she knows it is safe, she comes into the room and in no time is asking for some lap time! Gypsy LOVES to be on your lap and cuddle. She loves snuggles and belly rubs. If you enjoy movies and TV time, this girl wants to spend the evening bonding with you!

Gypsy is very smart. She knows how to “sit” for treats. She is completely potty trained. She walks well on a leash. She is not fond of crates. In the evenings, she prefers to crawl into bed with her Mom and Dad and snuggle under the covers.

Our vet estimates that Gypsy is about 10 months old. She is about 13 – 14 pounds and is fully grown. Gypsy has a beautiful tan and white coat. She has erect ears that stand up when you call her name. And she has the most beautiful amber eyes. Gypsy is a Chihuahua mix and while we are not sure what she is mixed with, we are sure she is 100% adorable.

The ideal home for Gypsy will be one with a combination of activity and cuddle time! She would love to grow up with a work at home family as she loves being around her family. We think she would do well with another dog, or would be fine as an only dog (as long as you can spend a lot of time with her). She is fairly quiet and we believe she would be fine in an apartment, as long as she was not left alone for long periods of time and also had walks every day. There are no children in her foster home, but we think she would do well with older, mature children (10 and older). With her energy level, she would probably love playing with children. Gypsy does get so excited to see you that sometimes she will jump up against your legs. We are working with her on this, but know that this habit could be a tripping hazard. This girl is so sweet. She is looking for stability and love – and we know there is the perfect family waiting for her.

Gypsy is being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Gypsy will be spayed, neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. She will be ready in mid April to join a loving family, could that family be yours?

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $378.88 adoption donation required ($350 adoption donation and $28.88 Texas Sales Tax). Note: as of 1-1-20, the Texas State Comptroller office is requiring all rescue groups to collect sales tax on adoptions, even though we are all 501c3. We are all fighting this, but for now, have been told it is non-negotiable.

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.

After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
