Meet Buster Brown, a 13 year young, big Yorkie boy at 22 pounds who is being fostered in Azle, TX. Due to COVID, only Texas applicants will be considered.
Pupdate 05/16/2021 Buster Brown is still looking for his forever home. He is now a svelte 16 pounds, from 23 pounds, with foster mom feeding him a prescription dog food for weight loss and maintenance. A potential adopter will need to continue with a prescription weight loss food so he can keep his trim figure. Now that he is trim, he is active, and curious, and does not act like a senior. In fact, he tries does a pretty good job of keeping up with the younger dogs in his family. Buster Brown loves being with other dogs and gets along with all of them. He is mostly potty trained but he can let you know that he really does not like when you leave him at home by tinkling on a the floor a little. Patience, reassurance, and consistency will help Buster with that little habit. Buster Brown follows foster mom everywhere, lays in the home office when foster mom works and lays beside her on the sofa. This guy is older so he sometimes needs help getting up on the sofa. Long walks for this guy is too much. Buster Brown needs a home to life out his life with a retired person, preferably with a dog or two. This boys is sweet, loving and likes being with his people. Update – 3/13/2021: Precious 13 year old Buster Brown is ready for his new home. He has lost weight with his foster mom, is running short distances, has had a dental, and is a happy, happy boy. Buster has the normal aches and pains that come with his age but he loves to hang out with his human and needs a little help jumping on the sofa to be next to them. He would do best in a home where someone is home with him most of the time. He sleeps with foster mom and prefers the foot of the mattress where he can stretch out. He gets along very well with other dogs and would do best in a home that has other dogs because he uses them to help with his log eye sight. Initial Bio 2-15-21: Meet Buster Brown, a 17 pound, 13 year old boy who will melt your heart with all his gentleness and preciousness! Sadly, his owner, who has had him since he was a puppy, made the most loving and difficult decision to surrender him to United Yorkie Rescue after she became very ill and was in the hospital on several occasions. Buster is a bit overweight and foster mom has him on Royal Canine Saiety for weight loss. He has lost about 4 or 5 pounds! Buster Brown has low vision and is a little hard of hearing but with the help of the other dogs in his foster home, he gets around just fine. He loves people, and loves the other fur brothers in the house.
This senior would do best in a home with another small, gentle dog, but it is not a requirement. Buster Brown needs a home that is calm and quiet with someone that is home during the day and just wants to love on him. He has had a dental and blood work and overall, he is healthy. His liver needs a little support so he is on an over the counter medicine to help with that.
This precious boy needs a soft place to fall to live out his remaining years. He has only known love and kindness and he needs a family that will continue to give him that security.
