This cutie is Ellie. She is a Papillon/Yorkie mix. Ellie is 9 years old and 11.5 pounds of sweetness. Ellie is being fostered in Orlando, FL.
Due to Covid-19 dogs being fostered in the state of Florida can only be adopted within the state of Florida.
UPDATED BIO 03/31/2021: Ellie was sadly surrendered to the shelter when her owner could not afford to keep her any longer. This sweet, friendly little girl has a short history of urinary issues, yet she has only seen the vet once about it. United Yorkie Rescue couldn’t turn this little Papillon/Yorkie (Yorkillon) mix away. She needed us and we were ready to step in to get her the help she needs.
Ellie stopped in to give her fans an update on how she is doing – here’s what this princess had to say:
Hi everyone - it's Ellie. Let me give you an update on what's been happening since I got to my foster home. I've been here 18 days and I really like it. Why, you ask? Because I am no longer wearing diapers! My foster mom took me to see her vet who told her I likely have something called "spay incontinence". Of course, being a doggie, I had no idea what that is, but foster mom told me that it meant that it can affect up to one out of five spayed female dogs, and develops an average of 2.9 years after the dog has been spayed. Urethral sphincter mechanism incompetence (USMI) is the most common non-neurogenic cause of urinary incontinence in adult female dogs. Anyway, I couldn't help that I was leaking urine. It just happened. I had no control. It seems like it usually happened while I was asleep at night.
I have seen the nice doggie dogtor and she gave me some pills to stop me from leaking. And they are starting to work! I've been taking them for 1-1/2 weeks now. I am having a few of the expected side effects, namely sleeping a lot, but as my body gets used to them, this should get better. My dose is being cut every few weeks in the hopes that the meds will continue to work. The dogtor will then see if I should stay on that lower dose or if it needs to be adjusted, and that will take another 3-4 weeks. I will probably need to be on this medication for the rest of my life. Once the dose is regulated, I will be ready to go to my forever home.
I know you want to know more about me so here goes – this is the good stuff …... I love to be with my human - always. I love to cuddle. I am house-trained and will let you know when I need to go potty. I love car rides and walks. I am very good on a leash. I like other people and kids. I don’t think I would like to live with another dog. My foster mom's dog and I are civil to one another, but we don't play together. I got very angry with her (the doggie, not foster mom!) when she wouldn't let me have the toy she was playing with. Another time, I got upset when she got a little too close to my food. My foster mom thinks I may have been an only dog at my previous home and didn't learn how to share with other dogs.
My foster mom is getting to know me better every day and will know what kind of forever home is best for me. I do know that I don't want to be left alone for long periods of time, so I would like to have at least one stay-at-home parent, or a mom/dad who are retired would be great. I would also like a fenced backyard so I can sniff at my leisure and chase squirrels.
That's all I have for now. Oh, I forgot to say that I am very VERY cute. I am sure you will agree.

This sweet, friendly little girl has a short history of urinary issues, yet she has only seen the vet once about it. There are many things that can be causing this, but they were unable to get her the veterinary care she needs. The shelter asked if we could take this sweetheart and get her the help she requires.
United Yorkie Rescue couldnt turn this little Papillon/Yorkie (Yorkillon) mix away. She needed us and we were ready to step in to get her the help she needs. Ellie already has an appointment to see the vet on Tuesday March 16th. She will get a thorough check up. We don't know yet what will be found out. What we do know about this adorable pup is that she is very friendly and happy. She enjoys being with people, as long as they don't hold her too tightly, then she gets a little squirmy. Her foster mom said she was great in the car ride to her foster home, has cuddled up to her while she was sitting in her living room chair, and is already making friends with the resident dog.
Ellie is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and even had a dental. When we know what her urinary issues are, we will know how to treat her. If this sweet, adorable, little girl has caught your eye, come back soon to find out more about her.
