My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Handsome Mercury, who looks certain to end up on the large end of the size scale, is an approximate Catahoula/Pit Bull mix with likely a trace of Rottweiler as he is so chunky. He came into our rescue when his mom was pulled heavily pregnant from a Houston, TX shelter and placed in foster, where she whelped her pups in a home surrounded by a loving family. All this litter has known is normalcy, raised around kids and other dogs, save for the transport to bring them here to Rhode Island ;)

Mercury has a charming personality, for a puppy is on the easygoing side, and was by far the favorite of the Texas fosters who raised him, indeed they almost adopted him! He is extra sweet, very loving and always wants to be a good boy....not a bit stubborn. He does very well with kids, loves attention and will make an ideal family companion.

This litter did prove beyond scrappy with each other getting into major fights over resource that had strong intensity, but they remain lovely with unrelated, adult dogs. Yet, as Mercury does appear to be lead puppy and has been involved in these battles, we cannot recommend him for a multi dog home over the long term. He continues to meet dogs very well, loves to play with them, and In all likelihood, with proper ongoing socialization will do fine meeting other dogs and going to dog traffic places. But as we cannot yet know his adult version, which is half the work you put into him and half a matter of genetics, if a dog friendly dog is of primary importance we probably would not recommend him. If, however, you are seeking an amazing companion, he has exceptional potential.

The right home for Mercury will probably be one "between dogs", as he likely will do best with a family who has some dog experience, and with his endless charm it will be come quickly clear what a marvelous personality he has.

Mercury is available to approved applicants to meet. The first step is an application, and those are available via contacting Lucy at maramuser@gmail.com. Adoptions to CT, NH and RI only; we unfortunately cannot adopt to Massachusetts residents. His adoption fee is $450.
