My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Esther (Lucy) is about 8 years old, a medium sized (40 lb) female spaniel blend. Her shelter given name is Esther, and sometimes we call her Esther and sometimes we call her Lucy. Either name, she likes to be by her foster parents with a happy tail wag.

Esther is a joyful dog with a zest for playing with other friendly dogs, eating super tasty treats and enjoying nylabones. Because of her prior lived experience (in a home with 15 other dogs), she is a bit nervous and shy in new situations. Once she gets to know you, she’s a happy pup.

Esther is a lower energy dog. She enjoys walks, and does pretty well for a dog who is not accustomed to leashes. She is cautious when encountering a new situation on walks, such as people or other dogs outside. She will slow down and look to her human for reassurance.

Esther would be happy in a quiet home with another dog to play with. She plays a lot with the resident dog! She needs a family who will be patient as she adjusts to a new home environment. It took her about a month to feel less shy and fully comfortable and happy in her foster home.

Esther is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and on heart worm preventative. She had extensive dental work (10 teeth extractions), so she eats only soft food and soft treats. We soak her kibble in water for a few hours before mealtimes. She is also on Cosequin (glucosamine / chondroitin) joint supplements, to help her keep her mobility.

Esther is a great dog for a patient, quiet family looking for a second dog who loves to play with other dogs. There is a beautiful joy in watching her play and prance about for meals and tasty treats.

If you're interested in a happy Ester, please take a moment and fill out an online application at www.nebrittanyrescue.org. We look forward to hearing from you.
