My story

Meet Uncle Sam!!! Sam is believed to be a 6 year old (at most) black Lab mix. Sam needs a home with other dogs he can follow and continue to learn from. A home with older children is okay. He absolutely is a no with cats. He won't chase any outdoors critter ever but does not trust them at all in the home. He avoids people out if fear but once he gains trust he's amazing and becomes the most loyal buddy. Sam loves the outdoors but is also a huge couch potato. Sam loves daily walks, hikes, swimming, car rides, boat rides, cycling and anything he can do with his humans because he's all about his humans. Sam is crate and house trained. Not hyper but still active as his humans would be. He is not a barker nor much of a watch dog but he will alert you if something outdoors is out of the norm. A fenced in yard is preferred. He is not a fence jumper and his off leash skills are pretty awesome too. Sam loves all dogs regardless of size and temperament. He can be very playful with dogs too. Sam was heartworm positive

Sam is house and crate trained up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, neutered, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention.

Out of state adopters are welcome at the adopters expense.wE do NOT ship a meet and greet is required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter..

Sam is very food motivated so training and gaining his trust comes easy. Training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities arise daily that have to be addressed and/or rewarded. Continued training is a must.

Additional adoption info

Completed applications MUST be Printed & Mailed via United States Postal Service. We are a volunteer-based rescue, meaning every person involved is doing their best. Taking time out of their busy day to best help provide proper daily maintenance care for every dog and/or cat in our care until the best match with a happy forever adopter is made. Normally our adoption application processing review may take 2 to 3 weeks give or take. If you are seeking same-day adoptions then AHS may not be the best fit for your needs. We do not agree with impulse adoption. Adopting any pet is a decision that should not be taken lightly nor made impulsively.

We are a foster-based all-volunteer program. We are not a government shelter facility nor are we open to the public. Our adoption process can take 2 to 3 weeks from the time you mail it in to the time that we reach out to you. If you are window shopping we are not the rescue for you. We are seeking committed adopters.
