Bernie, also known as Bernie the Bat-Eared Wonder Dog, Although we are classifying him as a senior (we estimate his birth year as 2011) Bernie has a young dog’s energy and enthusiasm: he loves people, loves to play, loves to snuggle on the couch--in fact, he loves life in general. He gets along well with other dogs, both large and small. Bernie responds beautifully to positive training methods and is happiest when he’s near his person. He tolerates cats when on lead (he walks by the barn cat without reacting), but because of his strong drive (look at the photo of Bernie chasing the Kong) we are recommending a home without cats.

We are an all-volunteer 501 (c) (3) no-kill animal rescue organization with a focus on pit bull terriers and American bulldogs. We are committed to providing the companion animals in our care with any and all necessary veterinary treatment, training and socialization. Any animal we take in has a home with us until adopted. We depend on donations from the public and the hard work of our volunteers in order to fulfill our mission, which is to reduce the number of abandoned or mistreated pit bulls and American bulldogs through:
1) education of the public on the characteristics of these wonderful dogs; and of pit bull caretakers about the responsibilities of having this type of dog as a companion;
2) assistance: with spay/neuter and other medical expenses for responsible owners; and
3) rescue, rehabilitation and placement.
All our rescued pets are evaluated for temperament, receive all immunizations, are microchipped and are spayed or neutered prior to placement. All dogs have tested negative for heart worms and receive regular preventative prior to adoption.
