My story

Greetings! My name is Dale (HWTH#21086A). I am a Chihuahua mix, born on 4/13/2013 and I weigh 8 lbs. I was found by a good Samaritan in Palmdale and relinquished to Halfway to Home so the nice people could take care of me and hopefully find my owners. They never came for me so now I am ready to find a new Forever home. I may be a senior, but you would never guess that based on my playful and goofy personality. Chihuahuas were bred to be companion animals and we love being around our humans, whether it is in your lap for cuddling, at your side for walking or traveling in the car, or in your bed for sleeping (if that is ok with you!). My size makes me a great fit for an apartment or condo. I am not sure if I am potty-trained but I have no doubt that with some patience I can learn your routine and where it is ok for me to go. Daily walks, regular brushing, and good-quality kibble will keep me healthy and happy. If a devoted friend is what you want, how about giving me a try? To meet me, please call 661-824-4495 (landline). See you soon!!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption procedure includes an application to make sure the dog and the people will be a good match, an adoption fee to cover the cost for shots, spaying or neutering, and a home check. Halfway to Home dogs are adopted out to be part of the family, and many of them are housetrained, if not, we ask that you are willing to undertake that task. Our dogs are intended to be indoor/outdoor family members. Doggie doors are a plus.

Go meet their pets

Come and see us every Saturday & Sunday, rain or shine from 11am to 3pm at the westside Palmdale Petco, 39522 10th St. West, Suite A, just north of Target and just west of the Aldi grocery market, phone #661-267-2447.

We also are at A Better Way Pet Care in Lancaster from 10am-2pm. This location will be SATURDAY only. Located in Lancaster at 202 West Ave. J, phone #661-948-3939.

Because Petco stores and A Better Way Pet Care are currently not doing weekend adoptions because of the coronavirus we are scheduling meetings offsite. Please call Sandy 661-824-4495 (land-line phone) to arrange a meeting with the dog that interests you.

We are in need of volunteers to help out at our pet adoptions at Petco on Saturdays and Sundays or at A Better Way Pet Care on Saturdays. If interested, please visit us during our adoption hours or call Suzanne at 661-824-4393.

More about this rescue

Halfway To Home was formed in 2001 due to the need in the Antelope Valley to rescue the many homeless, helpless pets. We have animals from individuals who have to give up pets, and from animal shelters that have darling individuals who need to be spared euthanasia. There are puppies coming from individuals who did not spay and neuter in a timely manner. Your tax deductible donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 512 Rosamond, CA 93560 or you can visit us on our web site at www.halfwaytohome.net and make a donation through PayPal.
