My story

Do you ever feel stuck? Djibouti knows that feeling; he pretty much has a Ph.D in "stuck." And, this 6-year-old beefcake needs some kind of magic to happen to get his world back on kilter. Djibouti has been with us at PAWS Atlanta for 3 years, as of today, 2/27/22. Google helped us do the math, and the results kind of took our breath away: Djibouti has spent 1,096 days in our shelter.

He's had a couple of inquiries, but nothing seems to pan out. Djibouti is a super-sized stack of fries with a side of goofball and another side of mystery. He's endearing and loyal and slightly awkward when meeting new friends. He'll roll over on his belly and ask that you pet him, and then insist that you immediately STOP THIS NOW when you do actually rub his belly. In other words, Djibouti is a little complicated, but aren't we all?

Because he can sometimes send mixed signals, like rub-don't-rub, Djibouti needs someone who can learn to read him and work with him. He would need an adult home, preferably with someone who has some dog experience, although that is not required. More than anything, he needs someone who can provide him a safe, loving home to transition beyond life in a shelter. A routine would be great. Knowing what to expect, and what you expect of him, would be ideal. Djibouti enjoys some other dogs but can be selective about his canine friends. So, for now, he'd probably do best as an only dog in the home.

Djibouti has many friends at PAWS and a team of staff and volunteers ready to help him transition into a home. If you think you might be a good fit for him, please DM us.
